For Sex Lovers! It's a good time to be living in Britain!!

I came across this article on Gulf News during a day long meeting I'm having today! This will last for two days before I go on vacation! I naturally planned to start my trip by heading to Jordan, but after reading this I have a not-so-mysterious drive to go to London, and actually settle there for good!

Their National Health Service body is so KOOOOooOL!

There you go.. Have "fun" reading:

London: The National Health Service (NHS) is telling school pupils they have a "right" to an enjoyable sex life and that it is good for their health. A health service leaflet says experts concentrate too much on the need for safe sex and loving relationships, and not enough on the pleasure it can bring. But family campaigners condemned the guidance, saying it encouraged underage sex and could increase rates of sexually-transmitted diseases. The advice, which also claims regular sex is good for cardiovascular health, has been circulated to parents, teachers and youth workers. It came to light just a week after it emerged that teenagers who took part in a Dh35.74 million (almost 10 million dollars) government initiative to reduce teenage pregnancies were more than twice as likely to fall pregnant as other girls.

The scheme tried to persuade girls not to get pregnant by handing out condoms and teaching them about sex. The NHS leaflet has been drawn up by Sheffield primary care trust. Its author, Steve Slack, director of the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health at NHS Sheffield, defended it by saying the advice could encourage young people to delay sex.But Anthony Seldon, master of Wellington College, Berkshire, who introduced classes in emotional well-being at the public school, described the approach as "deplorable". Dr Trevor Stammers, of the pressure group Family and Youth Concern, said the leaflet would encourage "risky" behaviour and an increase in sexually transmitted diseases. "It is unbelievable that this is being sent to schools" he said. "I'd like to know what scientific evidence there is to back this up. There are an awful lot of overpaid and under-occupied health promotion officers around who are obsessed with sex." He added that inciting underage sex was "nothing less than encouraging child abuse".

I'm not quite sure how to react to this! I mean, is this just over the top, or do you think that this is actually the right way to go aboutit?!... Any thoughts?

Israel Condemned by Human Rights Watch

Israel has been condemned by Human Rights watch for using drones to kill civilians during Gaza War. According to the report, Israel used unmanned aircrafts during the war in Gaza, and has unlawfully killed 29 civilians in the process.

You can read the full story here:
http://www.gulfnews.com/region/Middle_East/10327469.html

It's nice to see that someone is actually paying attention!! However, this raises some serious questions, and only the reaction of the International Community in the coming few weeks can answer them. Would Israel be condemned by the UN, or the Security Council? Would the US denounce the Israeli actions?! Would that change Israel's policies towards the Palestinians?!! If yes, then maybe the International Community including the US will retain some face, and along with it some of its lost credibility. Because I'm sure a lot would agree with me that the reaction of countries like the USA or the EU would be very predictable if the condemnation was targeting countries like Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Russia or any other arab country. I'm quite sure that the US will be limbering up and flexing its muscles in preparation for a new Holy war, or a set of davastating sanctions.

Naturally, Israel denied those allegations and accused Human Rights' Watch of being biased. Come on! for heaven's sake. How can people develop such thick faces!

Shame On All Of You!!

Complete silence.. something I couldn't really explain. Five years ago when I had vertually no contact with Non-arabs it would've made sense to me. But now, I have many of them as friends and colleagues! On my facebook I have around 130+ friends, 40% of those are non-arabs. I noticed something interesting when I looked at the status updates of my friends!! Almost 90% of the arabs had shown some kind of interest in what is going in Gaza! However, none of the non-arabs wrote a single word. No condemnation, no sympathy, no empathy!! Nothing to show the least interest in 200 people dead in Gaza! They are not humans. They are not worthy of a kind word.
It's weird. Aren't they victims of some type of terrorism?! Aparently not!

Something else I don't understand is how thick faced people can get! How can they be so useless and irrelevant and at the same time act if they were the exact opposite!! Arab leaders have proved to me and millions that they are the most thick-faced people on the face of the Earth! Hated by their own people, looked at as dictators by their allies, and as useless even by Israel!! Nobody thinks they add value to human history except maybe their equally useless and destructive entourage!

Question for Hosni Mubarak. What are you still doing? Don't you feel ashamed? Don't you feel hated beyound imagination? Don't you feel sterile?! If I were you, I'd leave! Resign! quit! I think in almost quarter of a century you have managed to steal enough money to live as a GOD for the rest of your miserable life somewhere in this world! So leave! You and all your likes! All the species of sub-pigs and sub-humans!

I believe we've reached a point beyound diplomacy! No kind words can be said on those silent sheeps and equally silent monsters! 229 martyrs so far! and all I can hear is condemnation!

Congratulations to Israel. They've made history today! They have conducted one of their unique UN-sponsored massacres while the world watched!

Congratulations to Israel. They've just militarized millions of arabs now! And from now on, I won't apologize for or sympathize with any single casualty I see on TV! You've earned it.

It's so sad to have so much hatred inside you. But everything has a limit, and I've reached that limit. Israel have given me and millions like me an overdose of hatred enough to hate the world for a century to come!

Shame on the world... Shame on you...

Obama delivers on his promise

"Without lies humanity would perish of despair and boredom”. Anatole France.

Maybe we shouldn't complain about politics afterall. It is full of lies, and so it is enriching our lives with events to ensure we don't die of boredom! dying of other things is fine.

Once more, I felt excited and overwhilmed by the unpredictability (And so I lie again), and the ever entertaining nature of politics. FAR FROM BORING!!

During the past few days people I know were exchanging greetings and gestures of happiness! Signs of victory! On Facebook, status updates were so optimistic and sincere as if liberation has finally arrived to the long waiting Palestinians!!

I quote one of those: " Congratulations Abu Hussein!! A.K.A Obama!! "

Optimistic? Hopefull? Moderate? Desperate? Naive?... I really don't know what to call them!

" Barack Obama has announced that Rahm Emanuel, a former official in Bill Clinton's administration, has accepted his offer to become White House chief of staff. Emanuel was seen as a tough, hard nosed and highly partisan political operative known for his fiery temper with strong links to Israel. He is the son of a Jerusalem-born doctor who was active in an underground Zionist organisation that fought the British in Palestine before the founding of Israel."

From Al Jazeera website.

We should go back to our tents and whine for 8 more years. And then, become hopeful again!

It suits us!!

Obama: A historic win... A historic change?!?

It's done.

Mr. Obama has become the fitst African American president of the United States Of America.

It actually defies all argumemnts that denies the American's ability to elect a black guy to lead them, and practically lead the world.

This Hollywood production, multi-Millon-reality show, which attracted the attention of Millions ended up, according to the belief of the majority, against all expectations.

A miracle? Maybe it was, a result of hard work and determination? A result of one giving "110%" as Americans would call it? probably yes. But, the question now is, What next? I've said before that Arabs should have the right to vote in this elections, because the next president might decide to invade another arab country, and that gives the inhabitants of the that country the right to vote!! What do the Palestinians think about it? Syrians? Sudanese?

And so, we congratulate Mr. Obama on his win, We give it up to you for defeating all those still living in the past in Texas & Co. But we have a question for you Mr. President: What now? What about Palestinians' right to a soverign, viable, and independent country? What about Iraqis? those who died, and those who might die anyday now? What about the mess that your predecessor left behind him? Afghanestan? Iran? Israel's agression?

You made a magnificent change in the face of the world, by becoming the first Black man to reach the White House "It's ironic, isn't it??" I just hope that this won't be the last unexpected change in the world!! Because if it was, then you've done nothing!! And you were better off staying as a senator, and let people dream of what would have been.

So, for America, we say congratualtions. For the rest of us, buckle up!!, this is going to be one hell of a ride.

The Zenith of Egyptian politics

I have always admired the way Egyptians can turn anything into a joke. Their ability to laugh and ejoy their lives even when the going gets tough. With the majority of the Egyptian population living in poverty, and with the ever worsening political situation in that cradle of civilization, the Egyptian people never lost their ability to draw a smile on their face, or draw one on others' faces. Although, recently a couple of Egyptians I met claimed that this issue was one of the major accomplishment of this government's reign, It managed to make more and more Egyptians frown on a daily basis for no apparent reason, which is something Jordanians are accustomed to and do effortlessly.

Yesterday, I read an article in the newspaper! It was a disgusting, pathetic, sad & embarrasing story, and yet I couldn't afford but to smile while reading it!! Maybe irony is way stronger than simple humor.

Mr. Hesham Tala'at Mustafa, a prominent politician & businessman, just like many of the members of the ruling party, is currently under investigation with connection to the gowing evidence that he was actually the one who issued the order for Suzan Tamim to be killed!! We covered this before, and most of us know about the story. However, the newest twist in the whole saga is that Mr. Mustafa has been convicted recently by a court in Dubai for committing adultry with an Uzbek prostitute!! Hilarious! The other funny twist is that, it took a lawyer and a deep investigation using a lot of resources and documentation to detertmine who the husband of Suzan at the time of her death was! A few guys showed up, claiming sincerely that she was their wife. The actual husband(The mourner??) had to prove with proper documentation that he was actually the husband.

Just a thought here. We all know that in Islam, marriage can be legal if there was an agreement in the presence of two witnesses, and that papers were not introduced until late times to preserve the rights of both spouses. In other words, it wouldn't be hard for someone to get married 700 times without anyone knowing about it. Fortunately for us, Islamic courts noticed the dilemma here and fixed this problem long time ago.

This is the tip of the Iceberg when it comes to our politicians and artists! This story actually got exposed. Many other stories don't. One might say, that this happens all over the world, and I agree. It definitely happens, and Bill Clinton who surprisingly hasn't lost his credibility can tell you all about it. But... The thing is, we were never used to have these stories in this region!

Ah, I know what this is usually called.... PROGRESS!!

Ahmadinejad speaks to the UN General Assembly

Ahmadinejad finally spoke before theUN General Assembly. I remember one at one stage the Iranian president was not granted a visa to enter the US to have such an opportunity. I thought, at that time, and I still feel the same that it is impolite, irresponsible & condecending behavior from theUS part.

If you claim to be a global power, an avid supporter of peace, and a host of the nations' podium (The UN), then you shouldn't act like an angry wife, and deny someone admission to the nations' home! I think if they want to behave in this childish way, the UN headquarters should be moved to some other mature state.

Now, I'm not a fan of Ahmadinejad. I believe he is overexcited, rushes things, and puts himself and his nation in awkward situations!

However, in this speach, I haven't seen any unreasonable statements, or any non-evedince based claims.

He touched base on several issues, both while addressing the UN, and talking to Larry King!

1. On the global policeman attitude of the united states, He said:

"As long as the aggressors, because of their financial, political and propaganda powers, not only escape punishment, but even claim righteousness, and as long as wars are started and nations are enslaved in order to win votes in elections, not only will the problems of the global community remain unsolved, but they will be increasingly exacerbated"

One will need to look at the post 9/11 world, and count the number of Iraqis & Afghans who died without a purpose .

2. On the Palestinians situation, and the Arab-Israeli conflict, he said:

"Palestinians have undergone 60 years of carnage and invasion ... at the hands of some criminal and occupying Zionists. Zionists in Israel have forged a regime through collecting people from various parts of the world and bringing them to other people's land, by displacing, detaining and killing the true owners of that land.
The Security Council cannot do anything, and sometimes under pressure from a few bullying powers, even paves the way for supporting these Zionist murders."

I don't think anyone, at these times, can turn a blind eye to the suffering of the palestinians. Just because Europe & The United States are being extra polite with the Jewish state, it doesn't make the atrocities the palestinians suffer less inhumane.

On the Jews he said:

"We have no problems with Jewish people. There are many Jews who live in Iran today ... but please pay attention to the fact that the Zionists are not Jews. They have no religion ... they just have -- wear masks of religiosity. How can you possibly be religious and occupy the land of other people?"

Therefore, I think the Anti-Defamataion League should know better that calling him anti-semitic! I don't see them getting worked up everytime Mr. Bush decides to label people, as terrorists or Villains left right and center. Or, when he declares a crusade!!!
3. On Iran's Nuclear program, he said:

"Their concerns about us are not new. They've always been concerned. They were the ones who inspired Saddam [Hussein] to attack Iran and get us involved in an eight-year war. The terrorist groups that killed our president, our prime minister, our officials, are now freely asked to live in the Western countries.
The nuclear issue, has been politicized and is not a legal struggle at all, noting the International Atomic Energy Agency, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog group, has not detected any noncompliance or deviation on the part of Tehran"

Beat that!! You wanted inspector, you got it. You want to check on us, you got it. Nothing we do is against the international law, so what the hell is all the fuss about? Meanwhile, the west still doesn't see a problem with Israel being a nuclear power, and not signing any treatment to control the spreading of nuclear weapons!

4. On the American-Iranian Dialogue, his words were:

"I have said that, in fact, on this very trip, currently in New York, that I am ready to speak with the presidential candidates before the press. I believe that we've really done whatever we could do in this respect"

So for a country who supports democracy and dialogue, the US government should be the initiator of such a dialogue. Insteas they are shying away from it! I wonder why? In fact, during his speech at the UN, no more than a note-taker was representing the US delegate! The perminant member of the United Nations... Talk about denial!

5. On Homosexuality in Iran, he said:
"We do pay attention that in Iran nobody interferes in the private lives of individuals. We have nothing to do with the private realm of people. This is at the non-private, public morality. In their own house, nobody ever interferes."

Well, I think here, he was caught off guard! I don't think anyone can deny the presence of Homosexuals in their society, and I don't think that Iran doesn't interfere with people's private life!

All in all, I think he was being reasonable. Not "on fire" as he usually is, which I think is good for his people. Sadly, I don't think anything he said will change the leading powers' plans for the region. It most probably will not be more than a cry which will fade away in a week or two. Probably just before the next speech Bush will grace us with regarding Iran or the Axis of Evil!

It's funny how differently this label "Axis of Evil" is conceived when he said it, as opposed to how it sounds when Dean Obeidallah or the rest of the Axis of Evil comedians say it.

Finally, I think I have to say, we still love Americans. Just not those sitting in Washington DC!

Olmert grows a conscience

"The state of Israel does not allow pogroms against non-Jews," Olmert said. Speaking at the weekly Cabinet meeting, he said settlers who take the law into their own hands will be punished." Ehud Olmert.

Strong words from the prime minister soon to be the X. Certainly, it's kind of him to say that, but the question is; would he have said that provided he stayed the prime minister of the Israeli state for a longer time!

Then comes out Yisrael Meidad, and says that Olmert is blaming the wrong side!

"Violence begets violence, and in my indication and sources, the violence started from the Arab side," He said.

I wonder if Yisrael Meidad had in mind the past 60 years, and the thousands of palestinians who were killed all across Palestine, and those who are currently being starved to death in Gaza when he said that.

I'm all for his theory. However, he needs to remember that this theory works both ways. So, you can not blame the palestinians for the settlers' madness, and blame them for the rockets they fire at the settlements next to Gaza, after being seiged, killed, and starved by the israeli "defence" army.

Even a cat would go violent, if you put it in a corner, and make it feel that its kittens are threatened! Let alone being killed.

So, no applause for Olmert, because it's a little bit too late!

Political Assassination of a singer

I wasn't a fan of Suzan Tamim. I remember I liked one of her songs, and thought she was georgous. But that's about it. However, a murder is a murder, and a victim is a wasted soul! She was killed savagely by a cool-hearted gold digger!

What made the story even more contravorsial and SAD, are the stories suggesting that a very important businessman, who is also an egyptian MP, and a senior member of the ruling party in Egypt paid 2 millions to a thug to commit his crime!!

This story is rubbed in our faces along with the trials that the Egyptian authorities are making to conceal tha facts!

The below quote is from the Daily newspaper Gulfnews' website

"Meanwhile, three journalists from a newspaper in Cairo have been referred for questions for violating a ban on publishing a report about investigations with suspects arrested on charges of murdering Tamim. Al Dustour carried a report that two hotel security men from Cairo had confessed to killing her on behalf of an Egyptian client. One said they received $2 million for the job.
Sunday's edition of the paper disappeared from the market, officials said. The main story on the newspaper's website has the headline "Is a major Egyptian personality involved in the murder of the Lebanese singer Suzanne Tamim?""

I say we (in the arab world) are in safe hands! The wheel of progress and development is running smoothly! and in 7,000,000 years we will be as good as or even better than the 1st world! Our politicians are focusing on the right stuff!!

I just hope all this turns out to be a rumor, and that this politician turns out to be innocent! Just for the sake of our sanity!

Atlantis On Fire!!

This is not Atlantis of Plato!! It's Atlantis of Dubai. The new resort scheduled to be open to public by end of September 2008!

It was built to resemble the mythical beauty and greatness of the civilization of Atlantis, which ended by some kind of a one-day destruction scheme!.

But our guys here in Dubai got a little bit confused, they started the other way around. See, Atlantis the civilization prospored and then was destroyed, but here they started the other way around! The damn thing caught fire! According to Gulfnews, and you can follow that by clicking the link, the building caught fire today at 7:02 am. I work few kilometers away and couldn't see it.

This place is going to be extra cool! It is supposed to be open on September 24, and I'm seriouslt thinking of enjoying my Eid holiday there! So, they better fix everything on time!

Something I also find very interesting, is that there were 9 major fires in Dubai between March 23rd and September 2nd! This was not the case in 2007! You know what, I think their construction works' pace is finally taking its toll on them!

Awaiting Atlantis, and the Eid Holidays!
